Man Wakes Up To Strange Noise, Finds A Lynx Family Playing On His Porch [Photos]

It’s a wild world out there, and sometimes the wild world comes right to your doorstep.

It was rather early in the morning on a cool Alaskan landscape when Tim Newton woke up to a commotion on his porch. As most of us would at first, he suspected there may be an intruder. But to his shocking surprise, when he peered out his window to see what the noise was, Tim noticed something even more alarming than a human intruder: it was a family of lynx.

It was right near dawn. I heard some noises; it was like something scrambling on the deck,” Newton told The Dodo. “Coming out of my slumber, I thought, ‘What the heck is that?’ So I put on my bathrobe and slowly eased back the curtain. And right there, 2 feet away, was a lynx kitten. He was sitting there watching his siblings race by.”

Interestingly, there wasn’t just one kitten who was prowling around Tim’s property. Soon enough after he spotted the first one, three more scrambled across Newton’s deck.

Never hesitating for a moment or having a second thought, the self-proclaimed animal lover fetched his camera and began grabbing as many shots as he could get of the unbelievable scenario.

Said Newton, “They were running back and forth, pouncing on each other. I started snapping away. I thought, ‘Wow! What incredible luck. This just beats all. This is just wonderful!’

Considering how notoriously elusive the lynx can be, these photos have gone viral on the internet. Tim even said himself that he’s only ever seen these cats a handful of times, and always in the wilderness- never at someone’s home.

“They were so cute. It was cute-tastic,” Newton said. “It was amazing.”

The family of lynx obviously didn’t have anywhere else to be for a while, considering they lingered on Tim’s property long enough for him to gather several fantastic shots of these beautiful animals.

“They started to play again. For the next 40 minutes, they all played on my deck. They were chasing each other, rolling and wrestling,” said Newton.

We can’t imagine how absolutely incredible this once-in-a-lifetime experience this must have been, but we can share the photos of this experience with you.

This must have been the cutest thing anyone has ever seen on their front porch. An unexpected visit by these beautiful animals is something not everyone can appreciate, but we certainly can.

What would you do if you saw this sight first thing in the morning, before you’ve had your coffee?
