Young Woman Goes Blind After Getting Her Eyeballs Tattooed Black

Tattoos can be a beautiful form of art and a way to use our bodies as a canvas to use to express ourselves, but they don’t always turn out as expected.

When you make the decision to get a tattoo, you should be aware of the risks and do your homework to make your the tattoo artist you choose will do a good job and keep you safe.

Unfortunately for one young woman from Poland, she chose to undergo a very risky procedure of getting her eyes tattooed black, and it went horribly wrong leaving her almost completely blind.

Aleksandra Sadowska was inpsired by a rap artist called Popek, who has the whites of his eyes tattooed black, so she took the plunge and went for the same look.

The procedure involves a small amount of ink being injected over the sclera (the whites of the eye) and under the conjunctiva (the clear membrane covering the front of the eye).

When the session was complete, Sadowska complained of pain in her eyes, but her tattoo artist assured her this was a normal part of the healing process and that she would be OK.

She ended up losing all sight in her right eye, and the tattoo artist responsible is now facing criminal charges.

In an interview with local media, Aleksandra said,

“Unfortunately for now, doctors do not give me much optimism for improvement. The damage is too deep and extensive. I’m afraid I will be completely blind.”

But she is insistent she will not let it get her down and will strive to live a normal live despite the damage:

“I will not lock myself in the basement and get depressed. I have sadness behind me, but I live on,”

The tattoo artist is being accused of being improperly qualified and being careless, and is pleading “not guilty” to the charges. The case is due to start soon.

Aleksandra’s lawyer said, “There is clear evidence that the tattoo artist did not know how to perform such a delicate procedure.”
